Journal policy

The Journal of Online and Distance Education(JODE) is a double-blind peer reviewed open access journal that publishes biannually by the Department of Education, University of Sargodha, Sargodha, Pakistan. The mission of the JODE is to serve the research community of scholars, experts and educational professionals from educational institutions by publishing original research articles representing the highest quality practice, policy and research on contemporary trends and issues relating to a variety of educational contexts, formal and informal, involving different education levels, teacher education, individuals and groups of all ages.

Manuscript:
Manuscript must be according the given pattern in "Guidelines for Authors" .
Submission of Manuscript
i. The research articles text should be typed in single spacing. The margin shall be one inch on each side. The size of the paper A4 with width 8.27" and height 11.69" and the font must be Times New Roman with size 10.
ii. The article can be submitted by the journal online system or sent to [email protected]
iii. Plagiarism of the manuscript will be checked as per the rules defined by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.
iv. Author’s declaration that manuscript is not submitted or under consideration anywhere else must be given.

Review Policy

Journal of Online and Distance Education follows the following procedure for peer review:
• All the submissions are initially screened for suitability of publishing in JODE.
• Selected articles are sent to one local professional and one foreign professional for reviewing the articles.
• Comments and suggestions by local and foreign reviewers are sent to author(s) for revising the manuscripts accordingly within specified time period.
• reviewers’ comments, lacking originality, lacking interest of readers, scientific flaws and beyond the scope of JODE can lead to the rejection of the articles submitted to the journal.
• Reviewing process may take longer time as it depends on reviewers’ reports.

Selection of Reviewers
JODE selects those reviewers who are qualified, experienced, expert and well known in their field. JODE discourages reviewers who are biased, non-serious and do not provide potential, constructive and specific feedback on articles sent to them.
JODE acquires consent by signing a consent letter from reviewers before sending them articles.

Guidelines For Reviewers:
Blind peer review plays an important role to improve the quality of research papers. Following guidelines for reviewers are recommended while reviewing the articles:

A reviewer should judge, assess and evaluate the weaknesses and strengths of the paper(s) sent to him/her.
Reviewers must keep all the information of the paper(s) confidential and will not share with anyone.
Reviewers must avoid criticism on social, political and religious basis. Criticism must be according to academic and technical grounds.
Reviewers are encouraged to give their feedback concisely, objectively, relevantly and constructively to improve the quality of manuscripts.
If reviewer(s) seek material copied from any other source without citation they should inform the editor of the journal with relevant citations and references.
Reviewers are encouraged to provide feedback and return reports within two weeks.

Publication Ethics:
Journal of Online and Distance Education (JODE) follows the publication ethics and malpractice policies as outlined by committee on publication ethics (COPE, https://publicationethics.org/) and aims to adhere to its guidelines and core practices.

Originality of Manuscripts:
Journal of Online and Distance Education(JODE) accepts and considers manuscripts having following characteristics:
• Content of articles should be original material produced by author(s).
• Article should not be submitted for publishing elsewhere or in any other journal.
• Author(s) have to provide after signing an undertaking that material of the article is not copied from any source and material included in the article is the contribution of the author(s) and is being duly acknowledged.
• For any type of plagiarism in the manuscripts, the author(s) will be considered the sole responsible.
• Articles will be considered for publishing after filling and sending the originality and authorship certificates.
• In case of any violation of policy rules, the editor reserves the rights to take legal actions accordingly.
Plagiarism
• JEPPS submissions are screened for plagiarism using "Turnitin" as per Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) policy.
• Similarity Index by Turnitin must be <19%, and from a single source, it must be <5%.
• Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas without proper attribution.
• All sources must be adequately cited where needed.
• Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized, whether published or unpublished, will be rejected and the authors may incur sanctions. Any published articles must need to be corrected or retracted accordingly.
• The author(s) of submitted manuscripts or published articles that have fabricated or falsified the results, including the any sort of manipulation of images, may incur sanctions, and published articles must be retracted or corrected where applicable.
